FAQ/Policies

Editing Process

 1. Contact Me

We will discuss your project, create a timeline, and I will provide a quote. If you are a first-time client I will provide a 1000-word sample edit of your manuscript to decide where you are in the editing process and what service will best fit your needs.

2. Contract

I will email you a contract to sign that will include my policies as well as the information we discussed including timeline and payment. A 25% deposit will be due at the time of signing the contract.

3. Submit manuscript

You will submit your manuscript by email in Microsoft Word or Google Docs format.

4. Edit manuscript

After you have submitted your manuscript I will get to work on your edit following the timeline we set up and using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes or Google Docs Suggestions to make changes, suggestions, and leave comments.

5. Final payment and return of edited manuscript

Once your manuscript is complete, I will request the final payment via PayPal. Once that payment has been made your manuscript will be returned to you.

What genres do you edit?

Primarily romance—reading romance is my favorite hobby and editing it is my passion so it only makes sense. I am comfortable with all subgenres and welcome all tropes and heat levels!

What is your time frame for turnaround?

Depending on the length of your manuscript, service needed, my current schedule, and our agreed-upon timeline, it usually will take about two weeks. Again, depending on all above factors, it could push into three or four weeks. Please leave plenty of time in your publishing schedule to accommodate.

How do you edit?

I edit using Track Changes in Microsoft Word or Suggestions in Google Docs. I will make changes, suggestions, and comments for your review.

What style guide do you use?

I use The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, as well as employing the Oxford comma unless otherwise requested. I will create a style sheet for each manuscript but if you have already created one specific to your manuscript or series please send it along.

How do I pay and when?

A 25% deposit will be due at the time of signing our contract and once the edit is complete the remaining balance will be due. Once the balance is paid the manuscript will be returned. Both deposit and remaining balance will be due via PayPal.

Do you do a sample edit?

Yes, for first-time clients I will provide a 1000-word sample edit to decide where you are in the editing process and what service will best fit your needs.
